Make your own Variable DC Power Supply

Fully Regulated Variable DC Power Supply

Project by: Engineer Hafiz Yasir Qureshi NUST Pakistan

Introduction

The project “VARIABLE REGULATED POWER SUPPLY” plays a very important role in the laboratory functions and that is mainly to the electronics labs. As in electronics all the instruments, components work on a particular regulated dc supply ,so a project which can provide this supply by converting the alternating current to direct current that too into a great range of regulated power keep its own preference. As it can produce a range of 0-30 v direct current by regulating and converting alternating current is has a vast application too. AC to DC converters generally comprise a rectifier bridge to rectify the AC current of the input line and a regulating device supplying on output of one or more regulated DC voltages. Just the simple ac current is applied and through potentiometer you get the desired regulated dc power supply.

solar panel types and working

In Pakistan many people ask about solution of load-shedding when it will solve or what is the alternator source of WAPDA electric power supply. Unfortunately no one can solve that problem  lonely GOVT of Pakistan looking not serous to solve it.
If we are talking about energy crises and its solution we have some alternative solution of load shedding one of the most common solution it to buy electric generator and run on natural gas or petrol but that fuels are so expensive then govt power supply every one can not buy it if they buy but can not afford it running so expensive and it maintenance also required. Second alternative source is biogas plant that can run generator but it’s not a suitable for cities biogas plant only constructs in rural areas. 3rd option is solar panels its also expensive but it’s a reliable solution of load shedding. The cost of solar panels in Pakistan gradually decreases I hope so it’s become very cheap in future. Pakistan Science club blog publish article about solar panels in Pakistanuses and type written by Sana Mahmood member of Pakistan science club

Wind turbine and biogas Plant similarity

Wind turbine and biogas Plant similarity

As the title of this post is indicating the topic. biogas plant and wind turbine Both are source of renewable energy wind turbines primary purpose is to generate electricity, biogas plant can also generate electricity but the method of generating electricity is different to wind turbine
How wind turbine can generate electricity?
Wind turbine consist of Blades, Router, gearbox, alternator or generator, tail, pylon or pole
Blades are aerodynamically and rotate shaft of generator by wind power. Generator generate electricity its can be store at batteries or can use directly
wind turbine

Wind turbines commonly are two types 1st is HAWT (horizontal axis wind turbine) 2nd type is VAWT (vertical axis wind turbine) HAWT are more efficient then VAWT in many countries HAWT are installed HAWT can generate 100 watts to few mega watts. VAWTs are not affected by the direction of the wind, which is useful in areas where the wind changes direction frequently and rapidly. Unlike traditional horizontal axis wind turbines, a yaw mechanism is not needed to turn the wind turbine towards the wind. The VAWT is bird and wildlife friendly.
Environmental effects of wind turbine are noticeable big disadvantage of wind turbine is notice, birds killing and less age need regular maintenance for domestic and industrial wind turbine as well
Biogas Plant structure and how its work?
Biogas plant also called bio-digester, bio-methane plant and gobar gas plant locally called in Pakistan and India
Biogas plants are many type but two type of biogas plant are very common 1sr is fixed dome biogas plant and 2nd is movable dome biogas plant, 3rd type biogas plant also is very common called portable biogas plant or plastic drum biogas plant. Biogas plant digester consist of dome, digester tank, gas storage tank, inlet and outlet, digester tank digest the biological waist anaerobically with the help of microbe (biogas bacteria) the end product of a biogas. Biogas contains methane 60 to 70 % and 30 % of other gases. Methane gas are flammable and that can run gasoline generator to produce electricity also can use heating and cooking
biogas plant

Biogas are environmental friendly its reduce carbon imitation and green houses gases, biogas plant might be small size 1 meter cube to 100’s of meter cubic at industrial level
Wind turbine are mostly use in these countries are Germany, Denmark, Italy Spain. Biogas plants in India , china, Bangladesh , Pakistan, Philippine  etc are very common and increasing day by day

REQUIRED  THINGS  MADE  A  SIMPLE  INVERTER:

1.  12 by 12 Volt transformers.
2.  2 Transistor (1047).
3.  Copper wire for winding OR for an additional coil (Note: The number or gauge of copper wire must be identical as that of secondary coil of transformer).
4.  Vero-board.
5.  2 (1 k-ohms) resistance.
6.  2 Heat sinks.
7.  Wires.
8.  Screws or nuts.
9.  Paper.
10. Battery as the input or source.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

1.  Solding iron with solding wire.
2.  Multimeter.
3.  Screw driver.

PROCEDURE:

1.  First we have to do winding (additional coil) in between the gaps of the transformer in the direction of secondary coil (decide whether the coil of secondary coil is in clockwise or anti-clockwise).
2.  Use a paper strip to cover the coils of the transformer.
3.  Give 5 turns to the wire in direction of secondary coil, at the center twist the wire in order to make a third or center terminal, then again give 5 more turns. In this manner you will get three terminals. The purpose of making these three points is that we can use our transistor easily which is of three terminals, more ever the one is for pulse generation while the other two serve as the load  terminals.
4.  Now find the base of the transistor by connecting it with multimeter i.e. the terminal which gives reading on both of the other two terminals when positive end of the multimeter connects to it. Mark the base by either slight twist or another means so that you can remember it easily.
5.  Take a Vero-board and insert the two transistors in it and sold them.
6.  Join the pieces of wire at base and emitter of the both transistors by means of solding.
7.  Connect the collector of the transistors with one another with the help of wire.
8.  Sold the resistance of 1 k-ohms between collector and emitter of each transistors.
9.  Join the heat sink with both of the transistors with the help of screw or nuts.
10. Join the emitter of the transistor with one terminal of the secondary coil (transformer), similarly for the other one.
11. Connect the base of the transistor with one end of our additional coil, in the same manner for other end. (Note: The connections are made with the starting and ending terminals of the additional coil and not with the center or twisted one).
12. Now join the wire with center terminal of the secondary coil (transformer) which would act as the positive terminal for the input (Join it with positive terminal of battery). Similarly join another wire with the twisted end (the center terminal of additional coil) which along with collector wire will serve as negative terminal for input (Join it with negative terminal of battery).
13. The load will be connected at the base terminals of the transistors which were already joined with the terminals of the additional coil.
14. The simple inverter is ready to test now. With help of some changing, it can easily be converted into a UPS.

Naegleria fowleri (Brain-eating amoeba) Urdu

  Naegleria fowleri (Brain-eating amoeba) Urdu
Pakistan's biggest city Karachi suffering from new problem that's problem due to brain eating ameoba this protozoa damage the brain cells, due to that germs more than 10 people died in this year. Brain eating ameoba's scientific name is Naegleria fowleri, their infected people's death rate is 98 percent that germs only located at fresh water ponds swimming pools

Symptoms and signs of a Naegleria fowleri infection How is a Naegleria fowleri infection diagnosed? How Naegleria fowleri infections be prevented?information in Urdu source hamariweb.com
About Naegleria fowleri

Naegleria fowleri  is a free-living excavate form of protist typically found in warm bodies of fresh water, such as ponds, lakes, rivers, and hot springs. It is also found in soil, near warm-water discharges of industrial plants, and unchlorinated swimming pools in an amoeboid or temporary flagellate stage. There is no evidence of this organism living in ocean water. It belongs to a group called the Percolozoa or Heterolobosea. It is an amoeba, described as such by the Source wikipedia
Naegleria fowleri (Brain-eating amoeba) Urdu
Naegleria fowleri (Brain-eating amoeba) Urdu

Naegleria are “thermophilic,” meaning that they prefer warmer water. However, the cysts are able to survive for months in very cold water. Thus, Naegleria infection is found both in tropical and temperate climates. Naegleria fowleri is acquired by people when infected water is forcibly aspirated into the nose. This can occur through recreational swimming, diving, or during sports like water skiing. Once acquired, the amoeba travels into the brain, causing primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). PAM is very rare, and there are only a few cases reported each year in the United States.
